Fireplaces are the ultimate statement in a room. They are the main focal point around everything else and can set the tone for the whole room. And, it is not the place for a tv (unless MAYBE it’s the frame tv). I want to keep the fireplace as the art piece statement it deserves! A tv swallows it.

I get asked a lot about painting fireplaces, and I say YES. Even better than painting: lime wash or a concrete overlay. It is not as complicated as you think. It is very forgiving as the overall look is organic and natural. Remember when we made over Anastasia’s fireplace? It turned out gorgeous and was simple to do.

I’m sharing below my recent “rooms with perfect fireplace” saves and some fireplace surrounds I’ve been shopping. There are some stunning ones like this 1890 Victorian cast iron insert. And this antique marble one, or this Italian marble mantel.
