bath-salt-gift4-640bedtime-routine3-640I am not one to use a lot of lotions and potions or beauty products. I have my 5 minute make-up routine, wash my hair about once a week (I still shower everyday, FYI, don’t get crazy), I can’t even remember the last time I got my hair cut (over a year and a half), and I can count on my hands and toes how many times I’ve gotten a manicure. What I am saying is… I am pretty low maintenance but the one thing I do really enjoy, especially in these winter months, is a good bath and a little extra skincare.

Even in LA the cooler temps have finally hit and it’s time to pamper ourselves, am I right? I’ve partnered with AVEENO® to share my healthy winter skin tips and a DIY bath salt mix that is also perfect for gifting!

Salt and mineral baths are at the tippy top of my list on how to take care of your skin while also feeling pampered and chasing away the winter chill. Himalayan Pink salt is really great for a salt bath because it contains many of the same minerals our bodies need to stay healthy and your skin soaks it up while you relax, infusing your skin with the minerals and hydration.

I picked up a few cute containers from CB2, made my own label (printed it out on label stock), and poured the pretty pink salt into the giftable jars. I also love to add a few drops of lavender essential oil to up the relaxation factor.

waterTip #2 Drink it up. One of the best things for our skin is water, water, and more water, ESPECIALLY after you’ve taken a long soak.

bedtimeTip #3 Moisturize. After a bath, I like to put on a quick layer of moisturizer. I’ve been using the AVEENO® Skin Relief Gentle Scent™ lately and I love the subtle soothing scent of chamomile and how light it feels going on.

bedtimeTip #4 SLEEP! The best thing for skin health has to be to get that beauty sleep. As a new mama I am still pretty sleep obsessed and I have been going to bed closer to 9pm to get a full 8 hours. It takes me a while to wind down from the day, so the bathtime/bedtime routine is a big help. When I have a day that has been a little extra hectic, I make myself a cup of chamomile tea (yes, I double up on the chamomile) and mellow right out (this one is my recent favorite). Rupert’s family has a farm in England that grows chamomile and they distill it into essential oil and the smell of it takes me right back there every time.

So that’s it… bathe, drink, moisturize, and sleep. Obviously these are things we already do, so it’s just about tweaking the bath, and making getting plenty of the good stuff a priority.
