The tricky part was the timing. After a little bit of planning, I ended up ordering EVERYTHING for the bathroom online, in one evening. I didn’t realize that Wayfair had an entire home improvement section which was a total God send and where I got the majority of the goods. Tub, toilet, faucets, tile, sink… check check check. I contacted them and they worked with me to send pieces that were available asap. A bit of a gamble, not seeing any of these major fixtures in person, but I measured twice and rolled the dice. Here is hoping that as the items come in they all work together!
Above is the before and current state. The first step was the full demo, everything went, including the ceiling. Due to the short timeframe and my more delicate state of being 9 months pregnant, unlike the kitchen or the cabin, I am obviously not doing this particular renovation DIY style (it kind of breaks my heart a little but it’s also really great seeing progress at the end of the day that I didn’t have to do myself. :). We found a new contractor through our realtor and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed). As of today, they have torn out the old shower, took everything down to the studs and got to work on the new plumbing and electrical. They also started working on moving a wall to make room for a bigger tub and turning the tiny shower into a linen closet (we will be putting a shower head in the bathtub instead).Top image is of all of the new fixtures and pieces I will be working with. I wanted to keep the aesthetic consistent with the other bathroom we did (you can see those products here, and the result here and here), since it is in the same house, but still switch it up a little, with black floors and some different materials. I can’t wait to see this come together and draw myself that first bath.

SUPER exciting! I’m with you, in the throws of ‘do I just put a bandaid on it or do a full overhaul?’. I’m impressed that you pulled the trigger on all these things so quickly! I can’t wait to see it come together. Your makeovers ALWAYS impress 🙂
Such an exciting project and a huge undertaking! You always make them look easy 🙂

You truly are in nesting mode to be able to pull the trigger like this! I love your picks! All of your renovations have been my faves. Did you get a soaker tub?
First thing, I gotta say I just love your style and point of view! I am new to your blog, and am totally diggin’ it!
Second thing – a few years back we did a similar change in our bathroom: turning the tiny shower stall into a linen closet and moving the shower head to over the bath. It worked out great! We actually added TWO shower heads, the additional plumbing work didn’t add that much cost and it feels so luxurious! Now my partner and I can both take a shower together without the “you are hogging the water” problems!
Third thing – I am so inspired that you ordered all the materials online! I tend to agonize over decisions way to long, and this totally gives me permission to just act faster if I want to. Thank you! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
Wonderful! Would have loved to see the vanity selection.
hi gin, thanks! I will be sharing the finished bathroom soon. There actually is no vanity. The sink will be mounted on the wall.
[…] recap… about a year ago we gutted the entire space and started from scratch. I ordered every single item from the sink, to the tile, to the tub, right down to the toilet, […]
I love the final look! Wanted to do something similar in my bathroom but having trouble sourcing the right tiles. Do you mind sharing what kind of tiles and what size you chose? Thanks! X
Hey there- beautiful reno. Hope you’re enjoying it! Random but do you know what brand of interior door that is? The black one? Thanks!
