One of my favorite pieces I made for their wedding was this textile that hung over a fireplace during the reception. The bride and groom (Anne and Shane) are pictured above holding it’s edges. Anne & Shane collected photos of both of their families and I created silhouettes of each family member from the photos, essentially making a pictorial family tree.
Anne was stunning in Reem Acra and Shane was looking dapper in Proper Suit. They were married on the beach of Lake Michigan at a summer camp that Anne always pictured as her wedding location, just a few blocks from where she grew up. Along with the stationery suite and the family silhouette textile, I made chalkboard directional signs, an interactive seating chart, custom painted bean bag game boards, rubber stamped placemats, and other various signage. Her wedding also took place while I was developing A Sunny Afternoon so I was able to provide custom fabric napkins for each place setting that featured 4 coordinating patterns.More after the jump.
The entire day was filled with personal family touches that made it extra special, like Anne’s mom’s bridal veil being tied to driftwood to mark the place where the two said their I Do’s. Anne, her mother, and her sister also went to a Dahlia farm the day before the wedding and picked all the flowers for the event, while Anne’s sister also handmade candles as favors for each guest to take home (if you are in Europe you can buy her handmade candles here!). Get your hands on the Fall Real Weddings issue to see the full feature and hop over to Martha Stewart to see more photos and to hear Anne and Shane’s story. Oh and you would be silly not to read about their adorable engagement story here as well.
