It is probably no surprise that one of my favorite parts of the holidays is setting up a pretty table to gather around. It doesn’t have to be over the top or heavily themed, but I like to pull out the gold flatware and add a few unique pieces to make the table a little extra special. I’m calling this year’s a “natural luxe” tablescape.
To help you re-create a similar look I’ve listed a few ideas to try on your Thanksgiving table and I’ve teamed up with two amazing brands, The Citizenry and Suite One Studio, to give away these gorgeous pieces so that one lucky winner can get a head start!
Idea 1: Layer multiple dishes and napkins for extra depth.
For a holiday table I usually like to start with a charger, then add a napkin, then dinner plate and usually top it off with something decorative (like the pheasant feather) at each place setting. This table got its’ extra layer of luxe with the gold rimmed dessert plate and gold rimmed bowl that would be perfect for a little amuse bouche.
Idea 2: Create a centerpiece from the produce aisle.
Thanksgiving celebrates a time of harvest and bounty so why not create a centerpiece from the farmer’s market or just the produce aisle at your local grocery store. To keep it looking tasteful I stuck with a monochromatic palette. I love the texture of the artichokes which I used to make the bulk of the arrangement and then added in pears, gourds, and a little eucalyptus to fill it out.
Idea 3: Keep it neutral but play up textures.
This year I stuck with a neutral color palette and relied heavily on the patterns and textures of all the natural elements to up the luxe factor. Black, white, brown, and gold make for a rich color combination but bringing in the textures of the cow horn tumbler, pheasant feather, marble tabletop, cowhide rug, and wood grain planter take it to a whole ‘nother level.

Already had my eye on those tumblers since they launched last week – stunning! Honestly, I love all 3 ideas for the table, but if I had to pick one my favorite would be the layers of different textures. It plays in the centerpiece, the layering of the plates, and varied color of the tumblers. Even thought the table is neutral, it feels alive and bold – love it!

All of these are beautiful! I’d have to say Idea 2: from the produce aisle is my favorite (this is a tough one though, seriously love them all). Not only is it visually appealing, I like that I can shop for my centerpiece and my meal ingredients all at once!

I just had a big Friendsgiving dinner last weekend and also used gold chargers layered with napkins (some of which I hand painted!). I absolutely ADORE your artichoke centerpiece (#2) though and will most definitely be trying that out at my next party. It’s so inventive and different, while remaining naturally beautiful.
And maybe next time I’ll actually have room for a centerpiece! We had 14 people this year and the food took up all the room. My A Sunny Afternoon table runner definitely made a huge impact, though!

Love the idea of using produce for the centerpiece. I went to my favorite garden center in Chicago and they had the most beautiful arrangements and wreaths of succulents so I have decided to go with a succulent centerpiece and a succulent wreath with “Thankful” on it.
I love creating a landscape on the table using the different textures and sizes of dishes/ chargers/ napkins. It makes for such a beautiful and inviting space to share everything that you are thankful for. It is something that is super accessible for anyone and what ever they might have on hand! Certainly will be making an appearance on my table!

The produce centerpiece is such a great idea for all times of the year. I love doing it with lemons in the summer, or apples in the fall. Love the idea behind Citizenry where every product has a personal story behind.

My favorite way to dress up a table is with neutral toned candles of different heights and a plethora of gourds & mini pumpkins. The mini white pumpkins are the best!

I love the color story that is happening with the golds, blacks and whites and how the greenery is a beautiful contrast to those bold colors. I love the layering as well as the centerpiece made from items in the produce sections. Gives a great opportunity for a pretty by also fragrant centerpiece with the use of fresh herbs. I love the idea of placing a napkin between the charger and the plate to create an extra layer. So often you only see the napkin on top of the plate. Love the look of the simple feather instead. My family is coming all the way from Massachusetts to my new house in Michigan. Really excited, but was feeling overwhelmed between menu planning, setting up guest rooms, and gathering up the holiday decor I can’t seem to find where I packed. Laying the dishes has me sold. I never think to put the napkin between the charger and the plate, yet it looks so nice. I can layer my clothes but when it comes to home décor, I’m coming to realize it doesn’t come as easily!

Chargers and produce as decor. I have simple white china I use with black linen napkins and placemats with rosemary or thyme on the table in a matte-finish small planter. They look lovely on my mahogany table. But I’d like that luxe touch of gold (geometric candleholder perhaps?) and something chunky. LOVE the interplay of finishes in neutrals with a bit of glitz!
