I have the best(a) news! SemiHandmade who is known mostly for customizing Ikea kitchens with their quality doors is now making doors that are compatible with Ikea’s Besta units and that includes my line of sss x semihandmade modern beaded doors! So, that means all the floating credenza’s, DIY units, and media cabinets just got SO much better. Just before we packed up our LA house, they sent me some of the new SSS doors for the Besta unit I already had in my living room and I gave it a super quick facelift by just swapping out the doors.

To make this unit I bought the “BESTÅ TV unit frame” (no doors) W70⅞×D15¾×H15″ which is $99 from Ikea. I mounted it to the wall with the included hardware and cut a piece of plywood down for the top. I then used wood screws to secure the top to the cabinet coming up from the inside of the cabinet. You’ll also need 3 packs of hinges (one pack of two for each door in your unit) from Ikea and then the doors you purchase from SemiHandmade. All of the signature SSS colors are available and I love how the Desert Grey and my beaded fronts bring a little dimension and warmth to what I had there previously.

Boom, we have a fresh new room!
