Today has been a long time coming and I’m thrilled to share that my rug (and pillow) collection is NOW AVAILABLE on Lulu & Georgia!
The collection was inspired out of necessary, really. I designed these rugs for myself and anyone else that falls down the rabbit hole of trying to find the perfect rug with a soft palette and a more minimal aesthetic. The color palette is warm and earthy which IMO is a perfect foundation/jumping off point for a space and a rug should be just that! They can stand up to a room full of color and are right at home in a completely neutral space.
Sara Sugarman, the owner of Lulu and Georgia, and I have been talking about me designing a collection for them for a few years. We first teamed up when they produced a few of my wallpapers and even then we new we wanted to do rugs. At the beginning of 2018 I started sharing first my design directions with them. I knew I wanted a monochromatic/tone on tone rug, and my own modern versions of a kilim and beni ourain. They said go for it, so I put pencil to paper and began sketching out my ideas.
Whenever I’m designing a product collection I like to first draw out everything that comes to mind freely without being critical. It is the mind dump of the visual world. Then I continue adding to the pile over time and see what works and what starts coming together. I put my favorites up on a wall to live with, edit them, and then sketch some more, until finally distilling them down to a final selection. From there I bring it into the computer where I tweak them a bit further and add color.
The next step in the process is where I then took the collection to Lulu and Georgia and we sat together pouring over the materials available. We chose a natural wool and viscose blend which has beautiful color variation and is soft to the touch. All of the rugs are flatweave construction and are ethically handwoven by artisans in India. The flatweave was important to me because they feel casual and relaxed. Finally I chose thread colors to match and sampling began. We got our first round of samples about a year ago when we further edited and had another round of samples and edits before finally getting into production!
And boom, a year later here we are! 😂.
I’ve always been a big fan of Sara and what she has built with Lulu and Georgia, a female owned an operated business that simply gets it right. I couldn’t think of a better partner to bring the collection to life!
By now have you might recognize the shoot location for the collection in the photos above. We shot them at my #ClientTrullbrooks house! So you get a few more peeks around the house that I haven’t shot yet.
I designed these rugs before we even bought the #samuelfamikyfixer but as I started thinking about furnishing it I realized the rug collection was made for the house. I can’t wait wait to style them in my own spaces. I’ve been living with the ivory arches in our family room and it has been divine!
All the rugs pictured above on their own are showing the designs in the 8×10 size but we have a variety of sizes from 3×5 to a runner to 9×12 (with an even bigger size to be released soon!) and don’t forget we have pillows too!
Whenever I launch a new collection it feels like I am putting a bit of myself into the world and I really did pour myself into this one. I hope you guys love it as much as I do! So get on over to lulu & georgia and check it out! Lulu and Georgia also put this video together about the launch.
Oh and to get the best out of your rugs… I like to mention if you’re using the rugs in a hard surface like wood or tile, I recommend getting a 1/2 felt rug pad for the larger sizes, this one is my favorite, and this one, with a rubber lining, for anything under an 8×10 size. They give a little cushion and keep the rug in place.
I absolutely love all of your textiles and particularly, your wallpapers. Can you please let me know how I can order a swatch of Pink Agate wallpaper for a small powder room?
Thanks so much!

Hello!
I am in love with your ARCHES RUG, RUST and was wondering if you sell anyone where in Europe, since I live in Paris.
Thank you!
Lindsay
Thank you for your inspiration! I can say that all rugs and pillows look amazing and extraordinary.
But most of all I like Moroccan Flatweave.
Where is the yellow bed from?
Hello,
Wondering if you can share information on the tile in the bathroom you designed for Lulu and Georgia? The large circles within squares.
Thank you!
