You may be aware of my love for metallics, especially in the home, and my kitchen may be known for mixing different finishes (copper, bronze, and brass) but up until now, I haven’t taken metal mixing to the rest of the house. This holiday season it is all going down, no metallic is safe and I will leave no nook or cranny un-christmasified!
I dusted off my white tree last week and set it up right with, gold, silver, copper, and bronze colored ornaments. Going all metallic on a white tree has a luxe feel and mixing all the metals on a white tree gives it a little extra depth, and by depth I mean za za zoo.
I’ve narrowed down the wrapping paper to just one kind of pattern (it’s actually a DIY) and the metallic stripes coming off of black, white and craft paper create just enough variety while keeping it basic to compliment all the various metallics on the tree.I’ve also carried through the metal mixing to other areas of the house to create a cohesive seasonal decor.
Of course gold will always be my first love, but copper has swooped in and stolen my heart. Luckily they all get along just fine. Side note… if we were going to have a girl I wanted to name her Copper until I said the full name together, Copper Samuel, and realized her name would forever be confused with and probably teased about a certain small dog breed. So if your last name isn’t Samuel… would someone please name their girl Copper?)Anywayyy, Happy Holidays! Go get your metallic on. x

This confirms it: I need a white tree in my life
Totally stunning, Sarah! There is a box of copper ornaments in my attic calling at me to get a tree already. Always a joy to see how you style your lovely home. Emily x
Sarah, your living room looks absolutely breathtaking! I love all those mixed metallics, and that DIY wrapping paper is a feast for the eyes. You have incredible taste!

Where is the Cealing light from?
[…] Sarah Sherman Samuels knows a thing or two about mixing vintage home decor with modern pieces. I’m in love with this light airy space. The whole thing is so beautifully designed. See the boho rug? Yup, I do! It’s smashing! Look around though. I spy subtle hints of boho, but no kilim explosion. You’re safe Marsha, you’re safe. There’s the hanging chair (want it new, find it here), sheepskin, and I’m going to throw the leather butterfly chair into that group…it’s a bit more 70’s hippy chic than mid century modern, but both Greg and Marsha would think it’s groovy.
