Do you remember the write-up Domino did of our Sarah Matthews kitchen design? Remember her banquette? We did lots of hacks to get this look. The bench is IKEA Sektion wall cabinets with the same Semihandmade doors as the rest of the kitchen. We built a platform to hide the HVAC and covered it with the cabinets. A hiding trick that doubles as a bench! The backrest? Foam rollers covered in Jenny Pennywood fabric. And the table? A thrifted stone table base with a wood top made by pop pop!
You don’t have to do everything yourself. Plenty of great options are ready-made and installed in your home. But, if you want to save money, it is possible to get a special look without spending a fortune.
