Tagging on to last weeks kitchen update… I am on the search for a rug. Right now I have this floral rug from Urban Outfitters that I picked up long ago and while I do like the colors OK, I think the floral pattern is skewing the space more towards a country kitchen look then I would like. Here are a few rugs that are a bit more of what I am thinking.
I thought it would be nice to get a little punch of color in the kitchen with a beautiful rug, however I am not yet completely sold on any of these. While I love #4 it doesn’t come in the right size… Wah wah wahh. I guess the search is still on. Any favorite rug resources?

O wow I LOVE any of these rugs! Such a bummer when you find the perfect one and it doesn’t come in the right size! Rugs USA and West Elm are kind of my go to’s. Good luck!
Thanks Kristen, yea Rugs USA is my go-to as well. I always find great ones at west elm when I am not looking for one but I didn’t see any in there that I loved this time around. 🙁
Are you sure you want a rug in the kitchen? I’m thinking of the practical side of things.
haha oh Amy, you have to remember I don’t have kids to mess it up! 🙂 but yea, I think the flower rug is too big for the space as well. That flower rug is a flat weave which is nice though because it is more like a floor mat, which I think is key if we are to have one in there. That way you can through it in a washing machine every so often.
I think I really like either 1 or 2 for the cabin!
Bummer about #4…that one is my fave! Good luck with the search!

Dash and Albert make some cool striped ones that are indoor outdoor, so you can just hose off or scrub down. Or what about FLOR.
I just got this rug for my apartment and am obsessed. Really cute color and pattern. It brightens up the space, but is not too busy. It would look lovely in your beautiful kitchen.

I recently came across these – they are plastic, but not rigid, and feel lovely underfoot. Also easily moppable/wipedownable (!) and come in an array of patterns/colours/sizes. Really durable and beautiful, I think..

Sigh… I don’t really have an opinion on the rugs (#2, I guess, since it’s the least colorful – but that’s just how I roll – ooh, or maybe FLOR?…), I just wanted to say how much I love your kitchen.
It could not be more perfect. It makes my heart hurt in the best way, to see a Michigan cabin lovingly redone in a style that’s pretty similar to my own. Oooooof. Keep it up! And keep posting pictures of this kitchen – regardless of which rug you go with. : D

Can you tell me a little about the window shades/blinds? They look like roller shades, but the fabric looks thick (like roman blinds) and with a possible tie? I loove them!

Yes! I don’t really know what to call them but they are like a thick canvas fabric and you just roll them up by hand and then secure them with a tie. Kind of like a tent window if that makes any sense. I got them from Ikea so they were super affordable and I liked that they could roll all the way to the top and not get in the way. Hope that helps.
