cabin-weekendThis weekend we said sayonara to the cabin for a little while and headed back to LA, but not before sitting on the beach through one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve seen yet, and savoring every last minute in our little place of refuge. No cell signal and no wifi meant a forced unplugging but I have to say for the most part it was pretty great. A true getaway. Hope you had a lovely weekend. x sarah

    Hi Sarah,

I just love your site and it’s the only site I find myself checking daily. I’m a bit overly eager to see the finished house remodel-especially the bathrooms! Please post photos soon 🙂 My husband and I are trying to purchase our first home (I’ve been renting for 18 years!) and we will need to slowly make some upgrades-your site is such an amazing resource. Thank you!

I need your advice on painting-that will need to be done right away in our new home. When whitewashing an interior (walls, ceilings, trim) do we need to choose a different colour or finish for the trim and/or ceiling from what is on the walls? What did you do in your cottage and home? Thanks again-you have amazing taste!

    • Hi Amalia,
Thank you! We used the same color for walls, trim and ceiling. We just switched up the finishes. I like to use eggshell on the wall then satin on the trim and flat on the ceiling. I hope to have a finished bathroom post real soon! x

  • I love that you come to Michigan from LA. What brought you to the mitten?

    • Hi Abigail, I grew up there, in Grand Haven! After about 6 years of missing the seasons (especially the green green michigan summers) I had to get a piece of it back in my life, so my husband and I bought the cabin. I think I never realized/appreciated just how beautiful Michigan is until I left. Of course CA isn’t too shabby either but its a totally different kind of beauty.
