12.09.13weekendThis weekend Rupe and I celebrated our 7 year meetaversary. The photo above right was taken on the night that we first met when this strange zealous English guy decided to randomly crash our girls night out. Little did I know at the time, that the random would soon be my my better half. It is so fun looking back at the few photos we have of that night (thanks to my friend Giselle having a camera on hand to record inspiration from Art Basel), it makes the memories all the more vivid. Do you guys celebrate a meetaversary or a first date?

The rest of the weekend was filled with holiday parties and a little pampering at the beautiful nail salon of Olive & June (designed by Tenover6 owners Brady Cunningham and Kristen Lee).

  • Yes! My boyfriend and I celebrate our “friendiversary”, aka the night we met at an event. We will be celebrating eight years this dec. 26!

Cheers to serendipitous evenings out with friends! 🙂

  • Funny to see this today – I just wrote about my husband’s one-year-aversary in the US on my blog and was thinking about other people’s ‘versarys they celebrate that are a little different than the normal birthday or anniversary. 🙂 Lovely!

  • That’s so sweet! Congratulations 🙂

My fiance and I celebrate the anniversary of when we started dating (just celebrated 3.5 years) and even month-iversaries because it’s fun to have an excuse for little celebrations throughout the year. Some people think these “versaries” are cheesy and unnecessary, but I’m happy you also see them as a great opportunity to marvel at where you’ve come in your relationship and remember how special you are to each other 🙂

    This is too cute Sarah!

I first met my husband when we were 12 and as it was a pool party and the late 80’s the pics are beyond embarrassing and best left hidden! 🙂

We then re-met 8 years ago and celebrate this date as well as our now 5 year wedding anniversary so I like that i get to sneak in several ‘versaries! 😉

  • Awe Leyla! That is adorable. How amazing that you have photos from the first meet too and that long ago!

  • Ha Yes @Caitlin Liz, any excuse to celebrate is good by me. 🙂 We didn’t do much for it, but it is nice to acknowledge it just like you said and look back at how far you’ve come.

  • Yay, I’m glad I’m not alone ladies. Congrats to 8 years Katherine! 🙂

  • Crazy! My husband and I also met 7 years ago this weekend…or maybe Friday night? We can’t remember the exact date, but sometime around the second weekend of December we laugh about that first night and how clueless I was that he was flirting :).

  • No WAY Anna! ours was Friday! That is hilarious. Two Michigan gals meeting their future husbands at the same time. Maybe there was something in the air. ha!

  • My husband and I also celebrate our meetaversay, which was also our first date. We are both from Kansas and happened to be living in Zurich at the time and were set up on a blind date! It went quite well, needless to say, since we are now married and living back in Switzerland.

We got married in our friend’s backyard very quickly this July (for the move) and our friends and family couldn’t be there so we will have a second “wedding” next August. Now I’m counting on a meetaversary and TWO wedding anniversaries 🙂 Great excuses to celebrate our love. haha

Congratulations! I love hearing stories like this 🙂

  • small world! headed to olive&june for the first time next week! my final pre-baby mani pedi!

  • How LUCKY to have a photo from the night you met! WOW! So special.

We celebrate our first date (September 6th!) for anniversaries, but I think we will always be fond of the day we met, only a few days prior (Labour Day 🙂
