We are wax poetic over here when selecting candle sticks. Their job is a lot bigger than just holding a bit of light. We want them to tell a story.

With just the right amount of weight and charm they can anchor a room. And no matter what other decor we choose candlesticks feel timeless. They’re functional, yes but also sculptural, sentimental and a little poetic.

They are not there JUST to decorate, but say something. So how do we curate pieces that wax poetic- in both form and feelings?

character over symmetry: a slightly mismatched pair, tall next to short, smooth brass next to textured ceramic.. contrast can feel more intimate and alive like an old friend rather than identical twins.

material, material, material: we want soul! brass, wrought iron, ceramic, hand-carved wood… the material adds to the energy of the space… heavy brass is drama, matte ceramic is calm and cool.

second hand is our best friend: no polishing please. Keep the patina, tarnish, old wax drips.. signs of life is the poetry. Past dinners, quiet mornings, power outages turned cozy family sleepovers. Keep the history alive!

And don’t forget the candle itself. They are extensions of the holder’s story. When we find ones we love we stock up, like these beeswax rope tapers, fluted ones in this moody sangria color, this twisty taper set and these hand painted yellow tapers.
