New York City, beach days, gardens, paddle boarding to watch the sunset, secret theme songs, rain boots, running, and legos… we are glad for it all! Read all about it below.

G. Last week we headed to New York for the opening of the show “THE INDEPENDENTS” at colony. We made a piece for the exhibition titled curious cabinet and I worked with my dad for thefabrication. I’m not only grateful to be able to collaborate with him but also to be able to bring him to New York to celebrate the show together. It was his first time in manhattan! so it was extra special getting to experience the city fresh through his eyes.
L. Ok Printemps in New York is worth the visit alone. The tile work, the millwork, the colors, the fabrics! All of it every detail is incredible. We learned later that every bathroom is different and it made us want to go back to see because the bathroom we did see had our design loving jaws on the floor
A. I’ve been working with clay more and more and recently finished a ceramic mirror frame that I can’ even believe made it all the way through firing and glazing without breaking.
D. We had our first warm beach day in Saugatuck on Mother’s Day! We ate at our favorite Pennyroyal and I laid on the beach all day with my crew and read a book. Nothing tops that.

G. So grateful for a friend who hosted a morning brunch to celebrate mom’s this past weekend. it was a lovely morning with yoga, yummy food and good belly laughs. grateful for moms taking care of moms.
L. I enjoyed this article learning and finding inspiration from the top 25 gardens to see in your lifetime.
A. Accomplishing making it through maycember. We got this moms!
D. On mother’s day my husband asked about my favorite mothering memory over the past year. I had a surprisingly quick answer and i was delighted to find a picture in my camera roll too! over the summer, my 2 boys took turns heading out on lake michigan with me to paddle out to watch the sunset. We’d paddle out, sit down with our toes in the water and chit chat while watching the sun and day disappear. Pure delightful. memory.

L. I’ve been reading about sound therapy for a while and came across this wild fact: your body actually has a natural “resonant frequency” — a unique note that, when played, can help your cells vibrate in a way that promotes healing. Basically, we all have a secret theme song.
A. I signed up for a summer writing retreat — my first time putting myself and my work out there in any serious way. I’ve been terrified to share my writing for real, and I’m so ready to stretch a little.
D. Late to the party, but finally started The Rehearsal (just finished Season 1). The whole thing is a wild, meta rabbit hole. It’s like Nathan Felder built an existential escape room, and I can’t stop thinking about how life can be one long, unintentional performance. Funny. Unsettling (in the way we all should be unsettled). Brilliant.

G. Grateful for being a mother — the mess, the magic, the ache of it all. There’s nothing bigger or stronger than my love for my girl!
L. On Mother’s Day Birdie and I went to the bookstore (we love our local books and mortar) she picked out this first gardening book. We learned a trick of planting strawberries in rain boots!! So goofy. She talks about it daily and I know it will be something we talk about forever, “mom remember when we grew strawberries in RAINBOOTS?!”
A. Accomplished running my first 10k! It has been an empowering and emotional journey for me. Finishing this race is a symbol for countless invisible obstacles I have conquered in the last 7 months. I’m so proud of myself.
D. Birdie drew her first face drawing this weekend. It delighted and made me almost melt into a puddle of tears. She’s growing up!

G. Grateful or an unexpected slow morning where my oldest son can continue building the seven Lego monster trucks he got for his seventh birthday earlier this week instead of rushing off to school. The power is out at our school and at home after a wild storm last night. Fingers crossed for restored power soon.
L. Learned that lunch time with my three year old can be a lot more enjoyable if we take it outside. Since it’s been so nice this week, I make him a little bento box lunch and we eat it on the front stoop where he’ll grab a bite then do a lap around the yard, then come back for another bite and do another lap. Tires him out, he finishes his food faster than if we’re sitting at the table inside, and I’m a lot less irritated because I’m simultaneously enjoying the sunshine.
A. I went running for the first time in a long time yesterday and it felt so good to sweat and move my body on a hot humid morning.
D. Delighted in the joy on my kiddos faces as we celebrated both of their birthdays over the last couple weeks.
