Most would assume being pregnant in the dog days of summer is not the greatest timing, luckily where I live in LA it usually never gets too too hot (last week aside) because being by the ocean keeps the temps lower. So, for me, it is kind of ideal timing. It means I can wear dresses all day every day and never have to look at a pair of pants. The thought of pulling on a pair of jeans when my belly is this big sounds awful and to have to layer thick clothing on top of an already big bump, no thanks, I feel giant enough.

However as the rest of the country is starting to cool down, the LA summer usually lasts right through October so I am hoping I can coast on comfy dresses like this one from here on out.

I am often asked on instagram where I get stylish maternity clothes and the answer is, it usually isn’t technically maternity clothes. I have been slowly editing and adding more quality over quantity into my closet. So instead of buying a bunch of maternity clothes, this time around, I have bought a few dresses that will be part of my wardrobe after baby as well.

One of my favorite shops where I go to find these special wardrobe staples is Midland, a store full of treasures in Culver City, Ca. They have a great online shop as well, for those of you that don’t live nearby. Founded by Paige Appel and Kelly Harris, more commonly known as the ladies behind Bash Please, the retail space is full of carefully chosen pieces for the home and for your closet. They are who introduced me to brands like Miranda Bennett, and my favorite Kyma sandals, as well as this Kkibo dress, which again isn’t maternity but sure looks cute with a baby in the belly.
