The new studio is starting to come together! I’ve been having a lot of fun slowly collecting pieces that I truly love and only bringing those items into the space. I’d rather do without for the time being, leaving a space empty, than to rush to fill the gaps just for the sake of getting it finished. Of course it takes more time doing it this way but it is also what gives you that yummy collected feel. And bonus… when you have a bazillion other things going on you can’t help but work on curating your own space over time… i.e. when you have the chance.
One thing I knew I wanted to include in the space was my own photography. I love looking back at instagram and my iphone gallery of photos but some of the memories I’ve captured I really wanted to see big and be reminded of the happy times on the daily. I took this cactus photo on our first family vacation with Archer in Palm Springs. We were nervous and excited, brand new parents, with a tiny baby, and looking back that time went by in such a flash, I decided to frame this to remind me of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. I wanted the print to be extra large so I decided to break it up into a diptych, ordering two frames at the largest size Framebridge offers (40″ long), making one jumbo statement.
Buying or framing oversize art can be so expensive but splitting a print up into two frames is an easy way to cut down on the cost and I am always pleasantly surprised at just how easy printing and framing with Framebridge is.
You upload your art, select a frame, and they ship it to you all ready to hang, along with everything you need to hang it (except the hammer).
Now that Archie is a bit older and I spend a lot of time in the studio, I love being surrounded by memories of when he was just a wee one. P.S. I CAN NOT believe how big he is.
and psst… Framebridge is offering SSS Stories readers 15% off a customer’s first framebridge order! Just use the code SARAHSHERMANSAMUEL15 it is valid through 8/31/2016!
Love everything you have going here! And oh, how I can relate. My son is almost five and already looks like he’s 6. How is he 4 feet tall?? Sigh. It goes so fast. What’s that saying? The days are long but the years are short. So, so true.
On a totally unrelated note – is that rug comfortable? I’m looking for something that’s child-friendly, more comfy that my current flat-weave situation, won’t show a ton of dirt AND looks great. It’s a tall order. Much like my son! Ha! Thanks so much.
Hi Erika,
Ah seriously! so so true.
and yes! surprisingly its quite soft for being that natural fiber and it’s thick so it is a good amount of cushion. and it is fairly inexpensive for the extra large size I got. So overall I totally love it and it feels nice on the feet, not scratchy.

I absolutely love this photograph, and it works perfectly as a diptych! Will the artwork be available in your studio shop for sale? Thanks!
Hi Leah,
yes I am hoping to start selling prints in the shop soon! x

You’re studio looks great. I need someone to design my office like that. I have no coordination with colour and style 🙂 haha
I love your art print and love the whole vibe of this space. Hoping this print is available in your shop in the near future.
